I Have to Feel the Drama
I have a little secret to share for our very first Glam Spot: It takes me some time to pull a design concept together. I am a completely tactile designer. I can't just look at a digital mood board or look at a product and know that the elements I see will work in my design—I have to touch the fabrics, see the light hit the textures, and physically move pieces around until the space finally "speaks" to me.
Case in point: my recent Gothic Themed Dinner Party. I became utterly obsessed with red velvet for the layout. If you know me, you know I’m normally not a red person. But this specific, deep, cinematic crimson called to me. Because I couldn't find the exact architectural backdrop I wanted, I ended up crafting a "fake" accent wall out of foam board and wrapping it in plush red velvet myself. The lesson? Don't design by the rules, and don't rush the process. Touch the elements, trust your instincts, and let the drama unfold.
